Homeowners who compare gas prices to find the best deal but still struggle to heat their homes may be interested in the relaunching of Warm Front, a government project that provides assistance where it is needed.

Chris Huhne, the energy and climate change secretary, remarked that roughly 90,000 households could benefit from the measures, which will be employed over the coming two years.

One of the particular types of property targeted by the minister's department will be those that have the most thermal inefficiency and Mr Huhne said the launch of the Green Deal in 2012 would be a "national overhaul" of how private residencies manage their consumption.

The piece of legislation itself was introduced in December last year and will encourage private companies to install improvement measures to homes at no initial charge. The costs will then be taken out in instalments through energy bills.

Last month, a call was put out for firms to submit information regarding how they intend to implement the new rules and the deadline for acceptance ended on April 4th.
