Energy supplier E.ON is looking to go some way in rebuilding trust amongst consumers by launching a new Energy Fit Plan scheme, according to an article published by Marketing Magazine.

The scheme will offer two months' of free gas and electricity - on the 12th and 24th month of a customers contract.

Following criticism of the "big six" energy suppliers, by both energy secretary, Chris Huhne and leader of the Labour Party, Ed Miliband, E.ON's marketing director has described the current period as the time to work on building trust.

Jeremy Davies stated: "We have a customer panel of 28,000 whom we constantly talk to - this tariff is something they said they would support and wanted."

E.ON will promote the scheme with an animated advertising campaign that will go live this weekend (October 8).

As well as an advertising campaign, the energy supplier will also fund a TV show - to be broadcast on Channel 4 - entitled "Future Family with E.ON."

The show will feature a family based in Sheffield trying to make their home more energy-efficient.
