In a year that has seen energy suppliers increase their tariffs by an unprecedented level, Citizens Advice have unveiled the Big Energy Week campaign.

It aims to provide consumers across the United Kingdom with access to advice on the financial support available to lessen the burden of rising fuel bills, as well as information on how to lower bills.

Beginning on January 16, 2012, and concluding on January 21, the Big Energy Week has drawn support from various quarters - including Which?, Consumer Focus, the Government and industry regulator, Ofgem.

As part of the week-long campaign, events coordinated by Citizens Advice are set to take place all over the country.

Gillian Guy, Citizens Advice chief executive, explained why the campaign was being launched. She said: "We continue to help people on a daily basis with face to face and online advice. More and more people are coming to us for advice on how to spend less on their fuel bills."
