A scheme paid for and funded by the electricity suppliers participating in it, the Warm Home Discount Scheme is set to benefit many people across the United Kingdom this winter.

Customers can find out if they are eligible to receive the one-off discount of £130 by calling the Warm Home Discount Scheme helpline.

However, many will be left wondering, since the scheme is funded by them, whether their electricity supplier is actually partaking the scheme.

Each of the big six energy suppliers are involved the scheme, so customers - that meet the qualification criteria - of EDF Energy, SSE, npower, British Gas, E.ON and ScottishPower could all benefit. The list doesn't end there however.

Utility Warehouse, M&S Energy, Atlantic, Equigas, Scottish Gas and Sainsbury's Energy are also involved in the scheme, as are Scottish Hydro, Southern Electric, Swalec, Manweb and Equipower.

Those that are eligible for the £130 discount will receive it during the winter months of 2012/2013.
