Good Energy has received an award in recognition of its promotion of renewable energy in the UK.

The first supplier of 100 per cent renewable electricity won 'best business initiative' at the recent Climate Week awards.

Climate Week is a national initiative designed to highlight the positive actions of individuals, organisations and communities in every sector to promote sustainability.

This year's event saw climate change minister Greg Barker as the keynote speaker.

Good Energy enjoyed a successful 2013, and recently took top spot in Which?'s 2014 energy company customer satisfaction survey - the third year in a row in which it's achieved the accolade. It currently has more than 40,000 renewable electricity customers, and works with in excess of 59,000 small and medium scale generators of electricity.

Commenting on the award win, the green energy supplier's founder and chief executive, Juliet Davenport, said: "Good Energy was set up over a decade ago to give people the opportunity to help tackle climate change by switching to a 100 per cent renewable electricity supplier and supporting individuals to generate their own renewable energy. It's great to be recognised for our work with this award.

"We had fantastic consumer growth in 2013 across the business, and we've had a great year developing new renewable sources," she added.
