Good Energy's total customer base rose by 32 per cent, which helped its pre-tax profits hit £3.3 million. The number of customers on its electricity tariffs increased by 25 per cent - to 40,000 - whilst its gas customer numbers also rose, significantly, by 76 per cent - to 15,000.
It also reported positive results for its feed-in-tariff services, which allow homeowners and organisations to generate and receive payment for their own energy. Around 59,000 households and organisations now use the service - representing an increase of 28 per cent compared to the figures reported in 2012.
Julie Davenport, chief executive and founder of the green energy supplier, stated that it was benefiting from an increased awareness of energy suppliers amongst consumers. She said: "This is a debate that is long overdue. People are becoming interested in where their power comes from, how it is generated."
She went on to add that it had seen similar rates of growth in the early parts of 2014, stating: "Without Direct Debit discounts we are cheaper on average than the big six."
Good Energy recently started construction work on its second wind farm - a site based in South Yorkshire capable of generating 8.2MW (megawatts).
