Businesses are being given a "huge opportunity" to get cheap electricity and cut their energy bills, it has been claimed.
Voltage Power Optimisation (VPO) is a new product introduced by powerPerfector to help businesses manage their own power supply and reduce their energy bills.
Karen Ford, senior executive at the company says that although buildings in the UK usually receive electricity at 242 volts, the optimum level is actually 220 volts.
This product reduces the incoming voltage to the optimum level at the supply point in the building which will, she claims, "save energy, cost and carbon".
PowerPerfector now estimates that by installing VPO, up to 20 per cent can be saved on energy use and carbon emissions- potentially helping firms benefit from cheap electricity.
It can be set up very quickly at the main power point, where lower voltages will then be distributed to the rest of the building.
This product could account for huge savings for businesses as the Confederation of British Industry has claimed that up to £15 million is lost each day due to inefficient energy supplies in buildings.
