Pete Doherty was arrested on Saturday night on possession of class A drugs, it has emerged.

The Babyshambles singer, whose battle against drugs has continuously made the headlines in the last year, had been praised by judges for his rehab efforts.

And in recent weeks those around him have become more and more uncompromising about his drug habits, boosting his determination to continue the fight.

But yesterday it was reported that Doherty's rebellious streak has come to the fore after girlfriend Kate Moss got too "controlling".

The Sunday Mirror reported a source saying he went on a "bender" which, it has now been revealed, ended in more trouble for the rock star.

"At 22:00 hours on [May] 5th, police stopped a vehicle on Kensington High Street," a Metropolitan police spokesperson said.

"A 28-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug. He was taken to a west London police station, and later bailed to return in June pending further inquiries."
