As a result of the Government set Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP), the company installed more than 880,000 insulation measures as well as providing 'whole house' energy efficiency solutions to over 14,000 homes across the UK.
The results are subject to final approval by Ofgem, but the firm has insulated thousands of homes as part of the two schemes: methods including solid wall insulation, boiler replacements and in some cases installation of solar panels were all used.
E.On UK chief executive, Tony Cocker, said: "From Falkirk to the Isle of Wight and from Port Talbot to Kent, we've made people's homes warmer, improved their quality of life and helped reduce fuel bills. The targets have been challenging which is why I am so proud of my team who have worked tirelessly and succeeded in helping tens of thousands of people.
"We cannot control many of the external costs that make up a customer's energy bill but we have proved by meeting these obligations, subject to final verification by Ofgem, that we will do what we can to help people reduce their energy consumption and cut their bills."
As well as targeting carbon reduction, CERT also targeted helping a number of priority groups including those on low incomes and households containing people over 70. Furthermore, as part of the Warm Home Discount Scheme, E.On also provides a discount on its energy bills to vulnerable energy customers.
CESP was introduced to help make more homes energy-efficient through methods including solid wall and loft insulation, and also providing boiler replacements where needed.
The deadline for work to be completed under the CERT and CESP schemes is December 31 of this year. Firms then have until January 31 2013 to report data to Ofgem before Ofgem itself then reports final totals from the firms which took part in the scheme to the Secretary of State by April 30 2013.
