Energy supplier to educate people on renewable energy

Between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved £479 or more.

One of the UK's leading energy suppliers has announced plans to educate both young and old people on the generation of renewable electricity.

ScottishPower is hoping to establish a new state-of-the-art visitor centre at Whitlee, which will also be home to one of Europe's biggest onshore windfarms, to inform people on the operation of such projects.

Expected to open next year, the facility will be the first of its kind in the UK.

"The project is a huge engineering achievement and will be an impressive sight to behold when completed," said Simon Christian, project director at ScottishPower Renewables.

"We hope that the centre will be a popular attraction for both tourists and people from the surrounding areas who want to learn more about the way that windfarms operate."

ScottishPower's announcement about the new centre has come after rival electricity supplier submitted plans to build a major new windfarm off the coast of East Yorkshire.

The new project is expected to provide energy for around 20,000 homes across Britain.
