One of the UK's big green energy suppliers has taken the decision to replace its meter reading contractor.

Good Energy, IndyMedia UK reported, has taken the decision to drop G4S following allegations regarding its ethical policy. G4S first began reading meter reading for Good Energy in 2008, after it acquired AccuRead - which had previously provided its services to the supplier for many years.

In a post published on its website, that it will begin working with Lowri Beck from 20 August (2012).

The post stated: "The decision to change meter reading company was based on a number of criteria, including feedback from our customers.

"Changing meter-reading services is a step-by-step process which requires that customer accounts are transferred to the new company over a period of time. We expect that process to complete by March 2013."

Good Energy also stated that those customers who wanted to switch their accounts to Lowri Beck's metering services at the first available opportunity should contact the company's customer care team.
