Dual fuel providers may soon be sending smaller bills to households that choose to invest in energy saving light bulbs.
Zoe McLeod, energy expert at Consumer Focus, said there is an obvious and significant advantage to the eco-friendly bulbs that can be used around the home.
"In the long run energy saving bulbs will save people money by cutting bills," she stated, perhaps making it an alternative to a switch of energy supplier.
Some people could adopt both techniques at once in a bid to enjoy the maximum impact when it comes to slashing their invoices.
Ms McLeod noted the initial cost of energy saving lighting will be a "bitter pill to swallow" for many, but the technology will prove to be good for the wallet, as well as the environment, soon enough.
The Columbian this week advised people to keep their thermostat low and to close their curtains in order to save power.
