Paying less to dual fuel providers 'is possible'

Between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved £479 or more.

Homeowners who would like to reduce the amount of money they pay to their dual fuel provider each month or quarter should target three areas.

That is the view of the Columbian, which suggested people must consider heating, lighting and water.

Heating is arguably the most important factor, as it is typically responsible for almost half of a property's energy consumption.

Among the advice dished out by the newspaper is to keep thermostats on the lowest setting and to close curtains whenever possible, as this prevents warmth from leaking out of a room.

Consumers were also offered tips on lighting – and were encouraged to invest in energy-efficient bulbs and turn off switches when a space is not in use.

In addition, the publication recommended washing only full loads in a machine in order to save water.

Zoe McLeod, energy expert at Consumer Focus, recently said shopping around for the best tariff – and making a switch of energy supplier if required – is a good idea.
