Big six energy supplier ScottishPower has unveiled a new fixed rate energy tariff.

Launched on Wednesday (October 3), the Online Fixed Price Energy April 2014 tariff is only available online. It will replace the Online Fixed Price Energy March 2014 tariff - which generated a significant amount of interest and has since become fully subscribed.

This new tariff will allow ScottishPower customers to ensure that their electricity and gas prices are protected until March 31 2014. It is only open to dual fuel or electricity customers though.

ScottishPower - one of a number of energy suppliers partaking in the Warm Home Discount Scheme - has also revealed that customers that sign-up for the new tariff won't face any cancellation charges.

Based on the consumption of gas and electricity by the average UK energy customer, those that sign-up for the Online Fixed Price Energy April 2014 tariff can expect to pay around £1,140 a year - on average.

Commenting on the launch of the new tariff, ScottishPower CEO of Retail and Generation, Neil Clitheroe, stated: "In recent months there has been a significant demand for our fixed price products. Customers continue to tell us that they value the peace of mind that a fixed price product can offer.

"We recently outlined a number of winter commitments for our customers, including the offer of a tariff that fixes prices for two winters, so this new product continues our commitment.

"Once again the product has no cancellation charges, so customers will always have the flexibility to choose the deal that is best for their circumstances," Mr Clitheroe concluded.
