Officers discovered the bodies after arresting a man in his 60s and a woman believed to be in her 20s at an address in Thornton Heath, Croydon.

Both were arrested after a member of the public contacted police to report an incident involving the pair and a young girl in the street at about 09:30 BST today.

The girl, whose age is not known, has been taken to a south London hospital to receive treatment.

Both dead children are thought to be under six years old.
