Cheap gas bills can prove beneficial for everyone, but younger homeowners in particular could welcome reduced expenses.

According to insolvency trade body R3, many young people are heading for debt disasters as they struggle to manage their finances.

Moving into a home and forking out for bill after bill could come as a shock to some new homeowners.

Switching to a cheap gas supplier could take some of the pressure off while they adjust to their new monetary situation.

A recent survey by R3 found 36 per cent of 18-24-year-olds who are struggling with debt would rather push the matter to the back of their minds, rather than ask for help.

Before financial concerns get to this stage, making sure household expenses are as minimised as possible, such as with cheap gas and electricity bills, could prevent young homeowners from falling into debt.

Another recent R3 survey found 44 per cent of Britons of all ages struggling with debt have not sought advice because they do not think their problem is large enough to require assistance.
