Flow Energy | Now Octopus Energy | UK Power
Who is Flow Energy?
Flow Energy was launched in April 2013 as a provider of innovative new boiler technology, before moving into the business of domestic energy supply business a year later - by April 2015 it was supplying more than 100,000 households across the UK.
It subsequently sold its boiler business to concentrate on domestic energy supply, and had around 230,000 customers signed up when it was sold to Co-operative Energy in April 2018
In 2019, Octopus Energy bought Co-operative Energy, and took on its 300,000 domestic energy customers, including those who were supplied by the Flow Energy and GB Energy brands.
As part of the deal, customers of Flow Energy and GB Energy were moved across to Octopus Energy tariffs, maintaining any fixed priced deals that customers were on, and while moving any customers not on a fixed plan over to its flexible tariff. As part of the move, customers’ Direct Debits were taken over by Octopus Energy, while any credit balances were also protected and moved.
In contrast, Octopus kept the Co-operative Energy brand alive, meaning all Co-op Energy customers will continue to be billed by Co-op Energy, will get 100% renewable electricity at the same rates and still earn membership points.

What is Flow Energy’s fuel mix?
Electricity is generated from a combination of different fuels, including nuclear, coal and renewable sources (wind, hydro and solar). The different amounts of each fuel contributed makes up a supplier’s fuel mix.
