Britons who do not believe they are paying a fair price for their power may opt to make a switch of energy supplier.

Tara Evans, writing for This is Money, explains all six of the country's major dual fuel providers have implemented a price hike since November of last year, with EDF Energy the latest to do so.

The company said it will be increasing its gas tariff by 6.5 per cent and its electricity price by 7.5 per cent from next month.

Householders who feel they are being unfairly targeted could, as a result, make a switch of energy supplier in order to enjoy the most affordable bills.

Ms Evans notes firms always seem to blame the rise of wholesale costs when revealing new price hikes.

However, British Gas has recently announced huge profits despite increasing its tariffs – something that attracted the criticism of Mike O'Connor CBE, chief executive at Consumer Focus, who said customers have a right to be confused.
