Who is So Energy?

So Energy was founded in 2015 on the back of a belief that energy tariffs should be fairly priced, completely transparent and great value for money. This commitment to ‘always keeping prices low’ while also offering renewable energy has seen So Energy establish itself as a serious independent alternative to the UK’s more established suppliers.

So Energy keeps true to its promises of great value and complete transparency by offering just one fixed rate tariff that it says will always be one of the most competitively priced. It makes sure rates are always competitive by taking the average annual cost of gas and electricity for an Ofgem 'medium user' across all regions of Great Britain and setting its rates accordingly.

This ‘Low Price Guarantee’ promises that its fixed rate tariff (for both single rate meters and two-rate Economy 7 meters) will be in the cheapest 10% of all tariffs on the market..

The supplier also makes sure that it’s doing its bit for the environment by offering 100% renewable electricity (though not yet renewable gas) and, in a novel twist on customer engagement, it lets customers choose where it sources its electricity from - wind, solar, hydro or biomass.

So Energy enjoys consistently good customer reviews, scoring well across all areas of the annual Which? Best and Worst Energy Suppliers list.

If you’re looking for a low-priced independent supplier, that offers one fuss-free tariff and good customer service, So Energy could be a good option.

What is So Energy’s fuel mix?

Electricity is generated from a combination of different fuels, including nuclear, coal and renewable sources (wind, hydro and solar). The different amounts of each fuel contributed makes up a supplier’s fuel mix.

Here is So Energy’s gas and electricity fuel mix as of April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019:
