Incumbent suppliers

Your incumbent supplier is the default provider of electricity or gas for your region.

If you live more towards Liverpool or Chester you’ll fall in the Manweb region and your incumbent electricity supplier is likely to be Scottish Power and your incumbent gas supplier British Gas.

If you reside closer to Manchester or in Lancashire you will fall within the Norweb region. Therefore EON will be your incumbent electricity supplier and British Gas your incumbent gas supplier.

If you have never switched your gas or electricity before, the likelihood is that you are still with the incumbent supplier and on their ‘standard’ tariff, which is typically their most expensive tariff. This is not set in stone however, if a previous owner of your house switched energy provider your home may be registered with a different supplier.
