Updates to an industry tool have been made to improve the help on offer to those who would like to make a switch of energy supplier.
Consumer Focus says it has enhanced its Confidence Code, which is designed to persuade people to shop around on various electricity and gas comparison sites before agreeing to a new tariff.
Such portals will now offer users information on green energy and more sustainable options, as well as details on limited-term discounts and deals.
"The Consumer Focus Confidence Code exists to make sure that consumers get the information they need from price comparison websites to make informed decisions about switching energy supplier," explains Audrey Gallacher, head of energy at the organisation.
News of the revamped code could be good for the 100,000 people in the UK who switch energy supplier every week.
A change might be vital for many Britons after npower became the latest of the country's big fuel providers to announce a rise in prices.
