Homeowners 'can save on fuel bills before switch of energy supplier'
British homeowners may be able to save up to 30 per cent on their fuel bills through several simple steps – and that is before they have considered a switch of energy supplier.
Bankrate.com explains insulation is the number one weapon in the fight against high monthly invoices.
"Bringing your attic insulation up to code for your region is one of the most cost-effective ways to winter-proof your bear cave," the website states.
It goes on to recommend sealing ductwork, cables and plumbling, as these can be a permanent source of power leaks.
And adjusting the thermostat to pump little or no heat and light into a home while it is unoccupied – such as for eight or nine hours on work days – can be another way to cut costs.
Once these instructions have been followed, homeowners may like to make a switch of energy supplier in order to maximise their savings.
Industry Today recently posted an article agreeing with such advice, also noting insulation to be a key factor in any bid to reduce fuel bills.
