Homeowners offered tips on how to supplement switch of energy provider
A switch of energy provider, following the use of a comparison site to find the cheapest deal, may be one of the more obvious ways to tackle rising power prices.
However, there are other tactics that can be deployed to supplement a change and perhaps result in even lower monthly invoices, as suggested by Age UK Enterprises.
The organisation begins by suggesting people ensure lofts and pipes are insulated so that energy does not escape from them, before adding it is also wise to carry out a check of the boiler.
Gordon Morris, managing director at the firm, said: "With most parts of the country braced for freezing temperatures, snow, sleet and even fog, Age UK Enterprises recommends homeowners take simple steps to winter proof their homes."
Other pieces of advice include sweeping out the inside of chimneys, insulating outside taps and leaving heating switched on at a low level.
The Met Office this week predicted the UK is set to see sub-zero temperatures and snow over the coming days.
