Business energy customers could note GSK's £3.8m savings

Between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved £479 or more.

People looking to save money on their business gas bills may want to take note of GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK's) latest success in saving £3.8 million in energy costs.

The healthcare company - which makes products such as Beechams and Aquafresh - was monitored over its 65 international sites, some of which include Argentina, Russia and Egypt, by the Carbon Trust.

It was found that the corporation achieved a four per cent absolute reduction in its CO2 footprint and there are aims to increase that to ten per cent by 2015, 25 per cent by 2020 and complete carbon neutrality by 2050.

Richard Pamenter, GSK's head of sustainability, cited the experience of seeking UK accreditation as a factor in its success. "The extent of our cuts proved that it is possible to achieve a meaningful reduction in emissions," he added.

As well as receiving the first global climate change certification from the Carbon Trust, the company also benefited from a 17 per cent increase in revenue per tonne of CO2 during the three year analysis.
