The plant would produce 17,000 megawatts of electricity each year and would be sited at Brynteg, near Benllech.
"If anything was to go wrong along the edge of the fen it could have catastrophic results," Cllr Durkin added.
He also raised concerns about the impact the electricity production facility would have on the tourist industry in the region.
Meanwhile, Suffolk County Council has been criticised for not opposing a planned incinerator in Great Blakenham.
The council is looking at five potential sites for the incinerator and will complete its final consultation on the project in July of this year.
