Business energy customers looking to save money on their electricity spending might like to consider installing a voltage optimiser to reduce the amount of fuel being used in their appliances.

These devices are able to reduce carbon emissions by around ten per cent across entire buildings and they work by altering the volume of power flowing through the site, directly at the source.

One of the products available is the VPhase, which cuts the voltage from roughly 245V to 220V, meaning a steady amount of electricity is supplied. It has been shown to reduce the amount of energy used in fridges by 17 per cent and up to 44 per cent on cordless phones.

Another option is the PowaSava. It gives users more control over the current as it is a variable system and has been designed to be adjusted when the incoming flow changes.

Switchgear Systems manager Richard Kennedy said: "One of the most cost-efficient ways of making business more sustainable is through fitting energy-conservation technology."
