Consumers want clarity from their energy suppliers, Ofgem claim

Between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019, at least 10% of people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved £479 or more.

Ofgem has said that energy suppliers should make the information they send to consumers simpler to understand, according to an article published by Energy Choices.

Research carried out by the industry regulator has supported the claim; their findings displayed that consumers want suppliers to use clearer terms when describing prices and energy use information.

It was also found that many would welcome help from their supplier in finding the right tariff.

Ofgem's claim follows E.ON's announcement that it will be making improvements to its Direct Debit policy.

This move has been welcomed by Consumer Focus, with their director of energy, Audrey Gallacher, stating: "We welcome the move by E.ON to change its Direct Debit policy.

"It's a victory for common sense and hopefully the first of many steps the company will take in its Reset Review programme to improve the experience of its customers."
