Comparing electricity can be a simple and effective measure, as it helps many consumers to save money on their home energy bills.
However, one expert warns it is not always as easy as it sounds, with many individuals disadvantaged by their lack of internet access.
Maria Wardrobe, director of communications at National Energy Action, explains many of the country's most vulnerable customers are not online, preventing them from making a switch of energy supplier via the web.
Offering advice to those without the chance to visit an electricity comparison site, she says: "I would advise anyone concerned about their energy bill to call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 336699 to see if they can access better tariffs and payment methods."
Ms Wardrobe adds it is not only a change of provider that people can enjoy, as there is also advice on energy efficiency measures available through similar avenues.
Her words may be especially relevant at the current time, as five of the UK's major suppliers have recently announced price hikes.
