British firms have the potential to save a significant amount of cash on their business energy expenditure, should the nation work to become more efficient.
A spokesperson for the Renewable Energy Centre notes the government needs to start by setting an example to all companies and homeowners across the country when it comes to using less power.
The expert's comments follow an announcement by the Technology Strategy Board that revealed four departments within the UK authority are to introduce green technology.
But the industry representative still has some doubts, admitting: "The fact that this is only a pilot scheme starting in 2010 goes to show how far behind the curve we are."
Indeed, the government should have been at the front of the queue to reduce business energy bills and illustrate what can be done with an eco-friendly approach, the insider adds.
Among the buildings set to undergo a transformation in order to cut workplace power costs is the headquarters of the Department for Energy and Climate Change.
