Small firms across the UK are in a position to save money on their business energy bills should they follow the example set by Unilever.
That is the opinion of John Barwise, chairman of the Cumbria Green Business Forum, who points to the company's introduction of a Sustainable Living Plan as an example of what can be done to go green and reduce costs.
Unilever recently unveiled the plan, which is designed to help it source materials in areas that can be replenished and slash the environmental impact of its products by 50 per cent.
"Going green is a sound business investment. Much of what [Unilever] intends to do to reduce waste and save energy can be achieved at minimal cost and in many cases save money," states Mr Barwise.
Other firms could adopt a similar scheme in order to try and create the same benefits when it comes to their business energy bill.
