British companies aiming to reduce the amount they pay each month on business energy bills will have to put their hands in their pockets and fund a switch to green ways of thinking.
That is the view of Louise Jennings, spokeswoman for Renewable UK, who notes a combination of private and public investment is "crucial" to the success of eco-friendly power in the country.
"We are blessed with one of the best renewable resources in the world, but if we are to deploy renewable energy on the scale needed to reduce our carbon emissions then technology costs must fall," she explains.
However, the only way to do this is to pump money into the sector, which must come from a variety of organisations.
Individual firms could find their business energy costs start to fall when they adopt green methods.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed by the Scottish government that one organisation to do just this will be Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe, which is to spend £100 million on research and development in the next five years.
