Households in the UK seemingly have several options when it comes to reducing their power bills this winter – such as making a switch of energy supplier.
Boiler Guide suggests another is to benefit from the government's Warm Home Discount, which it believes will go down well with Britons over the cold season.
The scheme, which is due to go before parliament for its approval, will make it a legal requirement for fuel providers to offer financial support to those who need it most.
Secretary of state for energy and climate change Chris Huhne says: "Warm Home Discount does exactly what it says on the tin, in providing money off vulnerable households' energy bills to help them afford their central heating."
Combining the discount with a switch of energy supplier may be the best way forward for those who want to shave the size of their monthly electricity and gas bill.
Representatives from several of the country's largest power providers visited Westminster this week to tell ministers to expect price hikes.
