The government has announced the opening of a three-week period in which consumers will be able to change their energy suppliers, as well as receive advice on their customer rights, according to an article published by the UK Press Association.
Consumer Focus are producing the guide on what customers should expect of their energy supplier; this information will subsequently be published by suppliers on their websites by December and mailed out to all customers on an annual basis.
Director of energy at Consumer Focus, Audrey Gallacher commented on the upcoming checklist, she said: "The Consumer Checklist is designed to be a user-friendly guide consisting of around 50 questions covering everything a householder needs to know about their energy supply.
"In the face of rising bills, consumers need all the help they can get to work their way around this extremely complex market. We hope that the checklist will be a useful tool to empower customers to get the most from their energy supplier," she continued.
