IT recycling could help firms reduce business energy costs
Recycling IT equipment within the UK can be an effective way for firms to slash their business energy bills while also doing their bit for the environment.
Andrew Boddington, marketing director at Ethical IT, says companies should avoid allowing their hardware to be sent abroad, as it can end up harming the planet.
In addition, removing dated solutions and replacing them with new energy-efficient technology can have a significant impact on business energy invoices, as power consumption is often smaller for the latest devices.
So, recycling within the UK could be a case of killing two birds with one stone.
Commenting on his organisation's work, Mr Boddington states: "We very much focus on UK recycling because then we've got a pretty good idea that it's not going to end up somewhere in the Third World polluting beaches or whatever."
The European Parliament recently announced it intends to implement tighter rules when it comes to electronic waste.
