People who take more than one holiday a year should think about getting annual travel insurance, an expert has said.

Carmel McCarthy, PR manager for Direct Line Insurance, says that it's advisable that those contemplating making multiple trips abroad should get annual cover - as they could save money that way.

"If you are going on more than one trip a year, it is advisable to get an annual policy as you can save more money by doing so," she claimed.

But she warns that travellers also need to be careful with annual cover - as they could end up making a claim in after participating in an activity that they are not insured for.

"I think you need to be careful when you take out an annual policy, that if you are undergoing dangerous activities you need to inform your insurer or at least get confirmation that those activities are actually covered, because I think that a lot of people are under the perception that they are actually covered when they're not," she concluded.
