Pre-winter switch of energy provider is "always a good idea"
A power expert has urged householders around the UK to make a switch of energy provider now or risk it being too late to enjoy the best prices.
The spokesman for National Energy Action said the arrival of winter often means demand for fuel increases and prices rise as companies cash in on the need to stay warm during the coldest months.
One answer to this is given as comparing electricity and gas tariffs now in order to find the most reasonable deal.
"There are considerable savings to be made if people are prepared to switch suppliers and online Direct Debits deals give the best savings," the representative explained.
Another consideration should be when a current rate comes to an end, as its expiry can sometimes trigger a higher rate.
Research by Which? last month found many people are paying significantly more for their home energy than they need to.
