Spector denies killing the B-movie actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion in 2003. Ms Clarkson was found dead with a gunshot wound to her face.
So far only one witness has testified in front of the jury when a former girlfriend of Spector told the court that he had threatened her with a snub-nosed revolver and shotgun after drinking heavily.
Spector's defence says evidence will show that Ms Clarkson was holding the weapon when she died.
In the absence of the music producer's head defence lawyer, prosecutors and members of the defence team will meet with jurors to discuss certain legal issues.
One defence witness, Dr Henry Lee, appeared on a US television interview last week and discussed the case.
The trial will resume next week and has been repeatedly delayed after Spector replaced his legal team a number of times.
During his career Spector worked with the Beatles and pioneered the 'Wall of Sound' recording technique which produced multiple layers of music that sounded impressive on radio.
