Homeowners may find a switch of energy supplier is the best way to enjoy a cut in their power bills, with the alternative option of going green seemingly not living up to expectations.
James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen.com, says many experts would argue the government is "probably not" doing enough to assist the switch to renewable energy.
With this potential route towards lower invoices still difficult, a switch of energy provider may be the only option left for those who want to reduce the amount they pay each month.
However, Mr Murray suggests it is not entirely the government's fault and adds people could do more to realise their green dreams.
"The government could definitely provide more advice and more guidance, but ultimately it is up to people to realise that there are business benefits," he states.
According to a recent statement by the Trades Union Congress, more needs to be done in the renewable sector if the UK is to take advantage of the opportunity to create an eco-friendly environment.
