An expert believes the power industry is in the middle of an "interesting" period – one that could potentially be risk-free for homeowners if they make a switch of energy provider.
Paul Hamblyn, consultancy services manager at Pulse 24, says the current uncertainty has been created by the confirmation of the government's green deal policy, of which details have not been announced.
"This is definitely going to happen and over the next year or so we will learn what the full details of the green deal are going to be," he states.
However, in the meantime homeowners looking to make savings on their home fuel bills may have no option but to compare electricity prices online and make a switch of energy provider in order to enjoy a cheaper tariff.
Chancellor George Osborne said in the recent Comprehensive Spending Review that he would set aside £1 billion to form the country's green bank and help families cut their energy payments.
