A large portion of UK homeowners may wish to switch energy supplier in a bid to solve a significant problem.
According to research by Marketiers, eight-out-of-ten people in the country believe their provider is failing to support a reduction in their carbon footprint.
Many think more information and advice should be offered on the subject of saving energy, which would lead to cheaper gas and electricity bills.
Only a quarter (26 per cent) say they have ever received advice from their energy supplier, while less than four-in-ten (36 per cent) are aware of current green schemes.
Perhaps most damningly, only 20 per cent suggest they feel a moral obligation to cut the rate at which they use energy.
But doing so could be good news not only for the environment but also for their bank balance - and a switch of energy supplier may be just the way to achieve it.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change last week announced a large increase in the amount of insulation being installed in British homes.
