Switch of energy supplier may work well with home power offer

Between 1 January 2020 and 30 June 2020, people who switched energy supplier for both gas & electricity with Uswitch saved an average of £387.

Older people could team a switch of energy supplier with an offer from Age UK in order to enjoy cheap electricity and gas bills in the coming months.

The organisation, in conjunction with E.ON, has launched an Online Saver programme designed to save homeowners money on their household power.

Age UK is offering a ten per cent discount to those who sign up online, while it will also send out the free E.ON Energy Fit Starter Pack - which includes a monitor worth £45 to keep track of consumption.

Gordon Morris, managing director at Age UK Enterprises, says: "Our customers are at the forefront of all we do and we are committed to offering them the widest possible choice of buying channels when it comes to choosing energy."

Signing up to the offer may be beneficial to many older people, but it could be worth remembering that a switch of energy supplier can also result in cheaper power.

Another way of saving was highlighted last month by Simon McWhirter, campaign director at the Great British Refurb Campaign, who said the Pay As You Save scheme will make homes more energy efficient.
