Consumers around the UK have been assured that a switch of energy supplier is not the only option they have when it comes to driving down costs.
The Association of Residential Letting Agents has revealed a number of its top tips for reducing power consumption and, subsequently, bills.
It recommends adding insulation to cavity walls and floors in a bid to retain heat within a property.
Other pieces of advice include installing a thermostat to control fuel use on a boiler and introducing insulation on bathroom fittings.
Ian Potter, operations manager at the organisation, says: "It makes sense therefore for landlords to carry out these improvements straight away, as considerable cost savings can be made."
Those who own their property may find they can benefit from the same information as tenants.
Dan Ilett, editor in chief of Greenbang.com, recently said that people will require more incentives to make going green worthwhile.
