British Gas has announced that consumers buying one of its boilers will get one year's free gas.
Anyone who is a British Gas customer and who uses the firm for their gas supplies will qualify for the deal, which could potentially bring savings of up to £800. The new offer does not apply to electricity however.
If you are not a British Gas customer, the firm will pay you £305.81 for purchasing one its boilers - and British Gas customers can also choose to take up this option if they would prefer to receive money up front. The offer is available on all boiler orders placed before October 27th.
But choosing to buy a British Gas could be a false economy, analysts say, as British Gas is one of the most expensive companies from which to purchase and install a boiler. One of the firm's boiler installations cost upwards of £2,000 - but various high street firms offer the same service for around £1,500.
The average British Gas bill is £509 for a year of gas, although the firm offers to pay up to £800. The scheme includes free maintenance of your boiler and central heating system.
