E.ON - one of the Big Six energy companies -Â has urged householders to look into smart meters, which could help them save up to four per cent on their energy bills.
The research also showed that 55 per cent of those interviewed cited that the use of consumer technology provided them with useful information and advice.
Jean Fiddes, head of customer learning at the energy supplier, advocated the use of smart meters in the home, commenting: "Smart meters allow consumers to easily visualise their energy consumption daily, weekly and monthly, meaning they have increased transparency into their daily energy habits, providing accurate bills and greater management of their finances.
"Our customers want smart meters and those who now have them are extremely pleased with the technology, in terms of putting them in control of their energy use and bringing an end to estimated bills," she concluded.
