Growth in customers for Good Energy despite mild winter
Green energy supplier Good Energy has seen its customer base grow during the first half of 2014, helping it to overcome the fall in demand caused by warmer winter weather.
It has suggested that increased marketing activities and improvements to its business logistics is likely to strengthen its position as a market leader in the renewable energy sector.
In the first half of the year, the Chippenham-based supplier saw a 35 per cent increase in electricity customers, whilst the number of gas customers increased by 82 per cent.
The renewable electricity company believes that, with continued customer growth and no drops in energy usage, it will meet its yearly performance expectations.
Good Energy chief executive, Juliet Davenport OBE commented on the increasing demand of renewable electricity in the UK.
She said: “Our strong customer growth so far this year demonstrates that our offer of competitive pricing, 100 per cent renewable electricity and award-winning customer service is compelling to an increasing number of consumers and businesses. Alongside managing our cost base appropriately, the significant increase in customer numbers is expected to drive future momentum.
“We have made huge strides in developing our generating capacity and now have contracts in place with 800 independent generator supply sites. Our continued investment towards our owned generation of 200MW target is indicative of our commitment to deliver a cleaner, greener and more secure energy source for the UK, the importance of which is highlighted by continued political uncertainty in Eastern Europe”, she concluded.
